Following the mining industry, agriculture is the second most dangerous occupation in the U.S. with a death rate of 22.7 people per 100,000 workers, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Most farm- related accidents are caused by machinery, with tractor accidents accounting for a high rate of fatalities.

The USDA reported that the corn crop progress remains behind the average rate over the last five years (i.e. 93% silking versus 5-year average of 95%). USDA reported 76% of corn crop in good/excellent condition According to the USDA, roughly 76% of the crop is in "good" or "excellent" condition, unchanged from the 76% in "good" or "excellent" condition last week.
